Children Being the Boss -by Nayleigh and Aleluia

This is a photo of Aleluia showing her mum how to code on the ipad and if you look at the back you can see Nayleigh photobombing them.

On Tuesday 26th June 2018, Room 34’s parents went to visit them for the
school open morning and learn to code with them. Well they were having fun,
sneaky little girls were hacking into other people’s bot. Well some boys were
doing some worksheets about binary letters. There were two maps the
treasure map and the alphabet map that they were playing with.

This year we have been learned were learning about binary codes and for
example when we say ‘a’ the computer says 01000001. Also so we learned
how to program robot with controls. We also learned about how to code on the
ipad.

Blue Bot Hacking - by Harsroop & Zayn

Jasmeen Yzabelle and Harsroop are trying to control the boys’ blue bots without the boys even knowing.

On Tuesday 26th of June it was the open day where parents came to school to
join in the fun with their kids. In Room 34 we did binary coding in my group. We
hacked into the blue bots - it was hilarious. Next we wrote our names in binary
code - it made my head crazy! In binary code the letter H is 01001000. After
we played coding on the iPad we got to choose which map we wanted to code
with. It was an amazing day with our parents.

This year we learned coding games and about binary code.

Coding Challenges - by River & Bianca

Mishika and Namrata with Bianca and River with their visiting whanau.

On Tuesday the 26th of June 2018. Our parents came to visit Room 34 to
do some coding challenges with us. We used the blue bots and bee bots and a
map for coding. The blue bots had to get to the destination.
We also used the iPads to do some more coding with our parents.
We were challenging the parents on the blue bots and bee bots,
and we kids won the game! Then we thought of getting to the destination
in 10 moves - WOW! But... We FAILED! It looked so easy for me but nooo.

You might be wondering what our open morning is? Well it is where your
family comes in and works with their child, which in our class was doing
coding challenges with their child. It was only Bianca’s third week at this
school.

Room 34 has been learning about coding this year, so we now know how to
code in many different ways. We also learnt how to code our names using
binary numbers.

CODING CHALLENGE - by Mishikaa and Daena

Daena programming the blue bots.

On Tuesday 26 of June our awesome parents visited Room 34 for our open
day special coding challenge. As you can see, Daena the coder is unlocking
some special coding quiz. During our open morning we learnt how to write
our name in binary numbers and we also learnt how to control the blue and
bee bots using an ipad.

Throughout the year we learnt what is coding and we learnt how to code bee
bots on a map with barriers.

Open Morning - by Anvir & Keanu

Keanu, Ronnie, Zayn, Uzair and Layton were coding our names.

On Tuesday 26th June our parents came to the open day while we were doing coding.
During the open morning all the parents were doing some coding with their kids. We used
the blue bot and bee bot. We could press the button on the bots or use the iPad to control
the bots. When the parents came they were happy to see their kids learn. The children were
very happy that their parents came to the open day. Everyone worked really nicely together
and they had good ideas on coding. The parents were happy to see their kids having a
fabulous time with their friends.

We have learnt a lot about coding and it is really good if you don’t know about binary
numbers and coding.

The Cool Coding Challenge - by Aishani and Yzabelle

Here is a photo of Aishani’s Dad doing a binary code with her.

On Tuesday 26th of June the parents of some Room 34 students came to
Room 34 to join us in our Coding Challenge. We were writing the letters of the
alphabet in binary numbers with a challenge sheet which has all the letters of
the alphabet and the binary code for each letter.

In coding this year, we have learnt how to code the bee bot, blue bot and how
to write in binary code. We also learnt what binary code is and the alphabet in
binary code.

Here is a photo of Sukhman & Manveer being evil while coding!

On a beautiful morning on Tuesday 26th June Room 34 had a lovely, freezing open morning. Our
parents came to do a coding challenge because we were doing coding in our class for maths. In the
coding challenge we had to do tasks with blue bots, bee bots, and maps. Here is  the photo where we
are doing a coding challenge with a blue bot and moving it remotely with the iPad programme. It was
Manveer's turn and he was making the blue bot go to his initials on the alphabet map. Sadly our
parents did not come. We learnt that computers use binary code to talk or get programmed.

This year we have learnt that computers use a different language to english - it is called binary and is
made up of the numbers one and zero. We also now know that you can use the iPads to control the
bots remotely.

Coding Kid Geniuses - by Dylan and Uzair

Learning to code our names in binary.
On the 26th of June 2018 in Week 9 of Term 2, Room 34 got their parents to come to the open day to
learn and do coding with us. We learnt how to write our names in binary. This picture shows a group
working on binary code. Binary code is a computer language made out of ones and zeros. A lot of
parents had fun and also learnt how to code a robot. They also learnt how to put their name into
binary code. Here’s a challenge for you: Try and spell your name in binary code!

This year we have done a lot in coding with bee and blue bots. We have also learnt how and why
binary code is used. It is used for computers because computers use the numbers one and zero for
their letters. It was very fun coding with Room 34 and Miss Day this year.

Room 34’s Spectacular Open Morning! -by Namrata & Arpreet!

This is Bianca, her little brother Joseph and her mum. Mishikaa and
Namrata are coding with the Bee Bots.

On Tuesday 26th June, Room 34 had a great open morning with our delightful parents.
We coded with Bee and Blue Bots. All the bots have controls. As we are learning
binary numbers, which can help us with maths and coding, which we are learning
about this year.

So far this year, we have learnt about binary numbers and coding. We have learnt how
to hack Bee and Blue Bots using the remote controls on our class iPads. We worked
out how to write our own name in binary code, which was a bit hard, but overall it was
a  #FundayTuesday!

Our Open Day - by Karen and Jasmeen

This is my dad and I using the beebot and treasure map for coding. My Dad is blocking the boxes
I can not go in. We also have Mrs Jefferies observing us. It was really fun!

On Tuesday the 26th June 2018, our parents visited us in room 34 to do a coding challenge with
us. My dad (Karen’s) made me code the beebot through the map without going on some specific
boxes which was a real challenge. For people like me (Jasmeen) who didn’t have anyone visiting
them, we got to do binary codes before everyone else! Jasmeen and I also hacked the boys’
beebot, which got them annoyed as they didn’t know that it was us! Here are our names in
binary code:
Jasmeen- 01101010 01100001 01110011 01101101 01100101 01100101 01101110
